The Short-Horned Lizard of Northern Arizona
The Short-Horned Lizard of Northern Arizona, or (Greater Short-Horned Lizard - Phrynosoma hernandesi), is one of the eight species of horned lizards that are found within the continental US. It is known, and so named, for its occipital and temporal horns on the head. It has rows of lateral abdominal fringe scales and dorsal scales. Color, and color patterns, vary greatly and tend to match the color of the terrain in their local environment.
